‘My heart was not here…’: Dhanush reveals he was kind of forced into acting

Dhanush, who will successfully complete two decades in the film industry, is considered one of the finest talents of our generation. Be it acting or singing, the National Award-winning actor has carved a niche for himself in different fields. Several filmmakers are keen to bring him on board for their respective projects as he enjoys a significant fan following among the masses.

The Maari star, who is known for his acting prowess, started his career at a young age. Unlike his contemporaries, Dhanush never wanted to be an actor. Yes, you read that right!

Dhanush, while talking to Filmfare magazine, said that he was ‘kind of forced’ into the field of acting at a young age. He also talked about the harsh criticism he faced for his appearance when he joined the industry in his teens.

Dhanush told the leading magazine that he never wanted to be an actor. The Kodi star said that things changed when he met legendary filmmaker and cinematographer Balu Mahendra, with whom he worked in a film.

Dhanush went down the memory lane and recalled their conversation. He said that he was 19 when Balu Mahendra asked him to take things seriously as he believed that the actor was gifted.

The Raanjhaana star worked on his craft after his meaningful conversation with the veteran director. We are glad Balu pushed the golden boy of Tamil cinema to the next level; otherwise, we wouldn’t have a star like him.

When Dhanush began his career, he was trolled for his appearance. Despite receiving criticism for his looks, the actor let it affect his work. He said that he is proud of the way he handled the criticism at the beginning of his career.

“I am very proud of the way I handled it when I was 17, 18, 19, 20 years old when I didn’t know this world, had nobody to guide me, had no experience, no maturity and that teenager handled it brilliantly,” Dhanush was quoted as saying by the magazine.

Earlier this week, Dhanush announced his separation from his wife Aishwaryaa after 18 years of togetherness. The duo issued a statement on social media to inform their fans about their split.
