Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) today formed a nine-member probe committee to identify the cause of yesterday’s fire at Dhaka New Supper Market.

The committee, led by zone-1 executive officer Marina Nazneen, will also prepare the list of affected people and estimate the damage, said a press release issued by the DSCC.

Chief social welfare and slum development officer Akand Mohammad Faysal is the member secretary of the probe committee.

The committee has been asked to submit its report by the next three days, added the release.

Just 11 days after a blaze ripped through the Bangabazar shopping complex, another one gutted shops in Dhaka New Super Market yesterday.

Around 5:40am yesterday, the fire service was informed about the blaze at the Dhaka New Super Market. Thirty units of firefighters managed to bring the flame under control after three and a half hours.

Marina Nazneen also led the DSCC probe into the Bangabazar fire.
