Awami League Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim today said no dialogue with BNP, the patrons of the killers of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, would take place over the upcoming national election.
He was addressing a discussion and Milad Mahfil marking the 43rd anniversary of the martyrdom to Bangabandhu and observing the National Mourning Day as chief guest. Department of Family Planning organized the events in city’s Karwan Bazar.
“BNP-Jamaat is the beneficiary of the killing of Bangabandhu. So that there is no scope of consensus with them,” said Nasim, adding, “Any dialogue
is meaningless because the upcoming national poll will take place as per the constitution.
The veteran Awami League leader said these people do politics of conspiracy. They had created an impediment to the trial of Bangabandhu’s murder by amending the constitution. “Talking about rule of law and human rights do not suit in their mouth. They had created opportunities for the self-proclaimed killers of Bangabandhu to sit in the parliament.”
Mentioning that the national poll would take place in the month of victory, he said “We believe on the election and if the people vote for us, we will form the government again.”
Nasim expressed optimism that people will vote for Awami League again considering the development of the country that has been carried out during the last ten years.
Health Service Division Secretary Sirajul Huq Khan, Health Education and Family Welfare Division Secretary G M Saleh Uddin, among others, also spoke on the occasion with Family Planning Director-General Kazi Mostafa Sarwar in the chair.
Later, the minister with officials of the ministry and its concerned organizations paid homage to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his portrait in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No. 32 in the capital.
