Urging voters to keep trust on e-voting, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Wednesday said that there was no scope for vote rigging using the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) system in election.

“Pourasava polls are being held in the country in a free and fair manner. Defeated party brings allegation of vote rigging not only in Bangladesh, but in any country of the world. Keep trust on us,” he said.

The CEC came up with the call after attending a law and order meeting held in Savar Upazila Parishad  ahead of Savar pourasava elections.
Claiming that no irregularities are being taken place in any polls currently, Nurul Huda said, “Law enforcement agencies will take steps to impose restriction on movement of outsiders and carrying of illegal arms in Savar during pourasava elections.”

Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to  put on high alert to avoid any untoward incident, informed the CEC.

Among others, EC Secretary M Alamgir, Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Khalilur Rahman, Dhaka Range DIG  Habibur Rahman and RAB-4 Company Commander AHM were present in the meeting.
