Padma Bridge impact becomes visible in villages of southern region: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said the impact of the Padma Bridge has become visible in the villages of the southern region as the development works such as the installation of solar panel, infrastructures etc have begun.

She made the remarks when Switzerland Ambassador Nathalie Chuard called on the Prime Minister at her official residence Ganabhaban on Thursday.

About the Padma Multipurpose Bridge, the Prime Minister said Bangladesh has been constructing the bridge with its own financing which would contribute to its GDP by establishing direct communication with the country’s southern region.

The Prime Minister said Bangladesh has a skilled youth generation and if the investors of Switzerland invest more here, both the countries will be benefited.

Highlighting different investment opportunities and potentialities in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina said Switzerland can avail the investment-friendly environment, liberal investment policy, special economic zones and other infrastructures facilities.

Mentioning about the government’s initiatives to utilize the country’s manpower, the Premier said, “We have huge manpower and the government is working to turn them into human resources through skill development and create employment generation so they are involved properly in the country’s development.”

Echoing the Prime Minister regarding investment, the Swiss envoy said there are more scopes and investment opportunities here in Bangladesh.

Expressing interest to cooperate Bangladesh in developing human skill, Nathalie Chuard said, “They came to know the interest of Bangladesh government in skill development and is ready to extend all-out cooperation to this end.”

The ambassador also showed interest to help Bangladesh in combating Covid-19 and said both the countries would work together to tackle the Coronavirus.

Praising Bangladesh’s progress, Nathalie Chuard said that she is impressed seeing the advancement that is continued even in this crisis (pandemic).

The envoy said she wants to roam Bangladesh in the first chance to witness the country’s beauty which was not possible yet due to Covid-19.
