Padma Bridge’s 23rd span installed

The 23rd span of the much-hyped Padma Bridge was installed today which made 3,450 metres out of total 6.15km of the main structure of the bridge visible.

The 150-metres long span ‘6-A’ was installed on the pillar no 31 and 32 at the Zazira point around 2:50 pm, said Engineer Humayun Kabir of the bridge project.

With the installation of this span, a total of 23 spans out of 41 were installed in phases, he added.

The works of Padma Multipurpose Bridge became visible with the installation of 150-metre first span on the pillars no 37 and 38 on October 30, 2017.

The construction work on the country’s largest bridge started in December 2015.

The 6.15-kilometre bridge will have a total of 41 spans, each 150 metres long.

According to the project details, the construction of the 6.15-kilometre long Padma Bridge is going on in full swing with the target to complete it as soon as possible.
