Patience can help overcome crisis in energy sector: Nasrul

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has reiterated his call to people to be patient to overcome the current crisis in the power and energy sector.
“If we keep adequate patience, we will be able to come out of such a slump,” he said at a virtual discussion meeting tilted: Contribution of Bangabandhu to the Development of Power and Energy Sector” on Tuesday, UNB reports.

The state minister’s remarks came against the backdrop of the government’s recent decision on raising petroleum fuel prices between 42-52 percent and introducing area-wise load shedding.

Former vice chancellor of Dhaka University AAMS Arefin Siddique was the key discussant in the  webinar, organized by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on the occasion of the National Mourning Day with senior secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Mahbub Hossain in the chair.

Terming the current crisis a fallout of the Russia-Ukraine war, Nasrul Hamid said Bangladesh is not out of the global situation.

He said the current crisis is temporary and the price of petroleum fuel will be readjusted if and when price decreases in the global market.
