BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Friday alleged that the police and local administration are working in favour of the ruling party mayoral candidate in Khulna City Corporation polls.
‘Police are arresting our leaders and activists and harassing them raiding their houses in Khulna. They’re also arresting our candidate’s probable agents and intimidating them,’ he said, reports the UNB.
Speaking at a discussion, the BNP leader further said, ‘The administration and police there (in Khulna) are in electioneering in favour of boat. We would like to say people won’t accept such a situation.’
Sammilita Chhatra Forum arranged the programme at the Jatiya Press Club, marking BNP leader Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu’s third death anniversary.
Mosharraf, a BNP standing committee member, claimed that their party candidate will win the Khulna city polls with a big margin if people can cast their votes.
The BNP leader alleged that the government is going to come up with a big-size budget in the election year only to deceive people.
Referring to newspaper reports, he said the government could not implement the current fiscal year’s budget. ‘What is the justification of formulating a bigger budget when the government couldn’t implement the current one? Their main motive is to deceive people in the election year by presenting a mega budget.’
