Hundreds of Muslim devotees on Friday staged demonstration in Dhaka protesting against Israeli attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque compound and Palestinians.
The Dhaka city unit of Islami Andolan Bangladesh arranged the demonstration at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka after saying Eid-ul-Fitr prayers.
Speaking as the chief guest of the protest rally, Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmed, secretary general of the organization, said, “Israel has viciously attacked the worshipers of Palestine. Even after such a barbaric attack, the world community has remained silent. The UN is not saying anything.”
Israel’s occupation policy continues, but the world community is not saying anything about it, he said, adding that “This barbarism needs to end. Israel builds settlements in the Gaza Strip with their expansion policy. They are constantly occupying the Palestinian people.”
Israel bombarded Gaza with artillery and air strikes on Friday following a new barrage of rocket fire from Gaza, intensifying a conflict that has claimed more than 120 lives.
The United Nations said the Security Council would meet on Sunday to address the conflict as Secretary General Antonio Guterres called for a “cessation of hostilities”.
