Renowned musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is set to perform at the BPL T20 Music Fest, slated for December 23 at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. The event will also be held at the tournament’s two other locations, Chattogram and Sylhet, in the coming days.

However, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan will only perform at the Mirpur event. Although he waived his honorarium for the “Echoes of Revolution” concert, a BCB insider revealed that he is being compensated around Tk 3.4 crore (approximately USD 286,000) for his performance at the BPL concert.

At the Board of Directors meeting held yesterday at the BCB office in Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, the decision to pay Rahat Fateh Ali Khan this amount as a performance fee was approved.

Following the meeting, BCB President Faruk Ahmed informed journalists that Madhumati Bank has purchased the title sponsorship rights for three events to be held in Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet as part of the BPL Music Fest.

In this regard, the bank will provide BCB with Tk 4 crore, almost all of which will be allocated for Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s performance.

As part of the BPL, yesterday’s meeting sanctioned a budget of around Tk 7 crore for several projects, including organising music festivals in three cities, launching the Youth Festival logo and the BPL mascot, officially introducing the BPL theme song and graffiti, displaying giant balloons in three cities, conducting a social media influencer campaign, and arranging a trophy and mascot tour across the seven franchise cities of the league.

Tickets for the BPL Music Fest have already been released online. However, due to a lack of significant audience response, the BCB has decided to reduce ticket prices. Initially, the prices were set as follows; Platinum tickets at Tk 12,000, Gold at Tk 8,000, Silver at Tk 6,000, Grand Stand at Tk 4,000, and Club House (Upper) tickets at Tk 2,500.

Now, the revised prices are – Platinum tickets at Tk 8,000, Gold at Tk 6,000, Silver at Tk 4,000, Grand Stand at Tk 1,500, and Club House tickets at Tk 500.
