Raising awareness among the people of the country can combat of non-communicable diseases, said the participants at a webinar held on the occasion of World Health Day.
Healthcare Start-up Dhaka Cast Limited arranged the webinar titled “Reasons for facing the challenges of healthcare in the country through the use of information and communication technology.
Grameenphone’s Chief Executive Officer Yasir Ajman was present as the chief guest at the webinar while top health experts also took part.
Dr. Fahreen Hannan, founder of Dhaka Cast Limited, in her welcome speech said, “Dhaka Cast Ltd. started its journey in December 2019. After government announced lockdown in March 2020, we provide services to 1200 Covid-19 patients.”
“Dhaka Cast provided service to 3000 diabetic patients till date. We also started our service in Sylhet on pilot basis and found great success. My plan is to spread our operation in rural areas all over Bangladesh in near future.”
Professor Dr. Nuzhat Choudhury of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital delivered the keynote speech on challenges of universal health coverage for non-communication disease (NCD).
CEO of Grameenhone Yasir Azman said, “Currently, lots of people in our country is using smart devices which generate a lot of heat that has negative impact on environment. Grameenphone also uses fossil fuel to run its network which is not good for the environment. We are currently trying to switch to renewable energy sources which drastically decrease environmental pollution”
Bangladesh Medical Association office secretary Professor Dr. Md. Sk. Shahidullah, Foundation for Doctor’s Safety and Rights advisor Dr. Abdun Noor Tushar and Dr. Md. Firoz Amin of BIRDEM also spoke at the webinar.
