Raping of female dead bodies in morgue: Munna Bhagat chargesheeted

Police have submitted charge-sheet to a court against accused Munna Bhagat in a case filed on charge of raping female dead bodies at Suhrawardy Hospital in the capital.

It was learnt from the general registration branch of the police station concerned on Friday (August 20).

Sub-Inspector Subrata Kumar Roy, investigation officer (IO) of the case, submitted the charge-sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court in Dhaka in the case filed against Munna Bhagat with Sher-e-Bangla Police Station.

However, no step was taken regarding the charge-sheet because of the suspension of court activities due to Covid-19 pandemic.

It may be mentioned that Munna Bhagat used to work as an assistant of dom Ratan Kumar Lal at Suhrawardy Hospital morgue. He had been raping the dead bodies of women at the morgue over two to three years. Receiving such a complain, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) started investigation about Munna Bhagat. Subsequently, the CID arrested him at night on November 19 last year. Munna was arrested as complain against him found true in preliminary investigation.

During the questioning, Munna Bhagat confessed his involvement in raping dead women at the morgue.

Suhrawardy Hospital morgue dom and Munna’s maternal uncle Ratan Kumar Lal said Munna had been working as his assistant over the last two to three years. His father’s name is Dulal Bhagat. Munna hails from Goalunda Bazar in Rajbari district. He used to stay at a room beside the morgue with two to three others.
