Release of Khaleda Zia: BNP holds human shield

BNP has held a human chain programme in the capital on Monday (today), demanding the release of the party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

The programme was held in front of Jatiya Press Club that began around 11am and ended at 12pm.

BNP leaders and activists began to gather at the Press Club area around 10am with different types of banners and placards in hands.

While gathering at the venue, the party leaders and activists are seen chanting various slogans calling for Khaleda’s immediate release.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed and Standing Committee member Khandker Mosharraf Hossain were present, among others, at the programme.

Earlier, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said they have got verbal approval from Dhaka Metropolitan Police to hold the programme in the capital today.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has been staying in the jail since February 8 after a special court sentenced her to five years’ rigorous imprisonment in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
