SAFF U18 Women’s Championship beating Nepal 1-0

The Bangladesh U-18 national women’s football team made the nation proud as they won the coveted title of maiden SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship beating Nepal by 1-0 goal in the final held on Sunday at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan.

After the barren first half, Musura Parvin finally broke the deadlock scoring the all-important goal in the 49th minute and Bangladesh maintained their lead till the final whistle of the match, according to BSS report.

After conceding the goal, Nepal, however, tried to stage a fight back in the remaining proceeding but failed to restore the parity.

Earlier on the day, India finished the third position in the tournament beating host Bhutan by a solitary goal scored by Devneta Roy in the 72nd minute in the third place deciding encounter held at the same venue.

Earlier, Bangladesh crushed Pakistan by 17-0 goals in their group opening match and inflicted a 2-1 goals defeat on Nepal to emerge group B top in their second match.

The girls in red and green got the ticket of final beating host Bhutan by 4-0 goals in the second semi-final.

On the other hand, Nepal dumped Pakistan 12-0 in their group B opening match but lost to Bangladesh 1-2 in their second match to finish group B runners-up.

The Himalaya Kingdom confirmed their final spot beating strong India by 3-1 goals in a penalty shootout in the keenly contested first semi-final.
