Saif Ali Khan transferred to ICU, currently under observation
Indian actor Saif Ali Khan is recovering in Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital following a violent attack at his West Bandra residence in the early hours of Thursday morning.
One or more unidentified assailants broke into Khan’s home, stabbing him multiple times. The incident, which has shaken Bollywood circles and concerned fans worldwide. Saif was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he underwent surgery to address critical injuries to his neck and spine.
Medical authorities have confirmed that Saif is no longer in critical condition but remains under observation in the intensive care unit. “Saif Ali Khan’s surgery has been successfully completed, and he is no longer in danger. He is in recovery, with doctors closely monitoring his progress,” his PR team shared in a statement released later on Thursday afternoon.
Police reports indicate that the intruder launched a brutal assault on Khan, leaving him with six stab wounds, two of which were deemed serious by attending physicians. One injury near his spine and another on his neck raised particular concern, though doctors are optimistic about his recovery.
Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer at Lilavati Hospital, told Hindustan Times, “Saif was brought to the hospital by his son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, and a staff member. He sustained six injuries, two of which are critical. We are closely monitoring his condition, especially the wound near his spine.”
Mumbai Police have launched an investigation, with Deputy Commissioner Dixit Gedam confirming that the intruder remains unidentified. “One or more assailants entered Saif Ali Khan’s home under suspicious circumstances. A struggle ensued, during which the actor was stabbed multiple times. We are treating this as a serious crime and are pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrator,” Gedam told reporters.
In the aftermath of the attack, Saif’s PR team has appealed for patience and privacy as the actor recuperates. “This is a police matter, and updates will be provided in due course,” the statement read. It also expressed the Khan family’s gratitude to the medical team at Lilavati Hospital and thanked fans for their ongoing prayers and support.
As of Thursday evening, doctors are cautiously optimistic about Saif’s recovery, with plans to reassess his condition in the coming days. The actor’s family, who were present in the house at the time of the attack, remain unharmed.
