Samantha Akkineni announces new mythology film Shaakuntalam

New Year, as many say, is a time for new beginnings, new opportunities and new resolutions. While many actors are in the process to sign new films, Telugu actress Samantha Akkineni has already come on board a new project. The actress took to social media to share the happy news and turned her fans’ New Year into a happy one indeed.
Taking to Instagram, Samantha announced her next film, Shaakuntalam. The actress, however, didn’t stop at the announcement and went on to surprise fans with the motion poster of the film. While the makers haven’t yet released details of the upcoming film, it’s evident from the teaser that Samantha will essay the role of Shakuntala from one of Kalidasa’s Sanskrit plays, Abhijnana Shakuntalam.
The film’s production house, Gunaa Team Works, dropped the motion poster on social media on Friday. “Shaakuntalam.. Kavyanayaki.. Here’s the BIG REVEAL Motion poster,” read the tweet on social media.
The motion poster, which described the film is an ‘epic love story’, is a mystical offering if its first glimpse is anything to go by. “Nature’s beloved. The ethereal and demure.. Shakuntala is…” read the video moments ahead of Samantha’s introduction.
Guna Sekhar, who has helmed the film, also used the hashtag ‘MythologyForMillennials’ to describe the film.
