Samantha Ruth Prabhu is unable to contain her excitement with the news of Vignesh Shivan and Nayanthara’s production venture Koozhangal getting picked as India’s official selection for Oscars 2022. A jury of 15 members in Kolkata watched 14 films from across the country and made the selection on Saturday. It’s definitely a moment of pride for the entire film industry. Congratulations haven’t stopped pouring ever since the official announcement has been made.
A thrilled Vignesh too took to Instagram to celebrate his achievement saying, “Yes ! This is happening in our lives ! Thanking the universe” He also tagged Nayanthara in the post. Samantha has reposted Vignesh’s post and has expressed her joy and pride over the Oscar selection.
Taking to Instagram stories, Samantha wrote, “Big congratulations @wikiofficial and Nayan. This is such mad news. Congratulations to the entire team. More power to you” Samantha also added hearts and a couple of more encouraging emojis to sum up her excitement through this social media post.

Vignesh had also penned a heartfelt tweet on Twitter to announce the news of his film’s Oscars selection. “There’s a chance to hear this! ‘And the Oscars goes to.’ Two steps away from a dream come true moment in our lives. Can’t be prouder , happier & content”
Vignesh and his fiancée, actress Nayanthara produced the film under their banner Rowdy Pictures. Directed by P.S. Vinothraj, the film follows a boy who accompanies his father in search of his mother, who has run away from her abusive marriage.
The 94th Academy Award will be held in March 2022 in Los Angeles, California. Last year, Lijo Jose Pellissery’s critically acclaimed Malayalam film Jalikattu was India’s official entry at the Oscars, though it failed to make it to the Best International Feature Film shortlist. Karishma Dev Dube’s short film Bittu, on the other hand, was nominated in the Best Live Action Short category at the Oscars.
