Senior journalist, FF Abul Mansur laid to rest

The Daily Observer Joint News Editor and a valiant freedom fighter Fakir Abul Mansur Chowdhury was laid to rest with state honour at his family graveyard at Kolapara in Parshuram upazila of Feni district on Monday afternoon.
Before the burial, a namaz-e-janaza for the senior journalist was held at Kolapara Govt Primary school ground at 4pm.
Mansur Chowdhury died of COVID-19 at Ibn Sina Hospital in the capital early hours on Monday.
He left behind wife, three daughters and a host of relatives and well-wisher to mourn his death.
A brother of Parshuram upazila Awami League’s former president late Fakir Abul Quashem Chowdhury, Mansur Chowdhury was an honest, courageous and brave journalist.
He joined the War of Liberation in 1971 while studying at Dhaka University.
Apart from The Daily Observer, he also served The New Nation, The Daily Star and some other newspapers in important positions.
Mansur Chowdhury’s daughter Nadiya told the Daily Observer that her father was buried with state honour as he was a valiant freedom fighter.
Feni Press Club president Shawkat Mahmud and general secretary Arifur Rahman expressed deep shock at the death of Mansur Chowdhury.
The Daily Observer family expressed deep shock at the demise of the senior journalist and conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
