Son arrested with pistol for ‘killing’ mother in Ctg

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested son Mainuddin Mainu with a pistol in connection with the murder of his mother in firing at Patia in Chattogram.

RAB-7 senior assistant director (Media) Md Nurul Absar confirmed it on Thursday (August 18).

The deceased mother Jesmine Akter, 52, was the wife of former Patiya municipality chairman and Jatiya Party presidium member Md Shamsul Alam. She was allegedly shot dead by her son Mainu over the dispute of family property and bank deposits left by his father.

They live at the Ward No. 5 in Patiya municipality of Chattogram.

“Jesmin Akther was shot by his son with a pistol,” Patiya Police Station inspector (investigation) Rashedul Islam said, adding that her husband died on July 13, 2022.

He said son Mainu was arrested with a pistol in connection with the death of his mother Jesmine Akter.

On Tuesday (August 16) night, Mainu’s sister Shaila Sharmin Nipa filed a case against her brother with Patia Police Station.
