‘Special teams’ formed for Covid-19 positive cops

A number of “special teams” have been formed to visit and inquire about the health of Covid-19 positive patients of the police force.

“The teams will visit Covid-19 positive police personnel, inquire about their health condition and take steps to solve their problems and ensure treatment for all irrespective of their positions in the force,” said a press release, issued by police headquarters today.

It said Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Banzir Ahmed and Dhaka Metropolitan Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam are taking information about affected police personnel and giving directives to ensure their (affected police personals) treatment and rehabilitation process.

As per the directives of IGP and DMP commissioner, the special team members are visiting the ailing police personnel and taking necessary steps for their treatment, it added.

Joint Police Commissioner (headquarter) Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman visited Razarbagh Central Police Hospital to see the Covid-19 patients.

DMP additional deputy police commissioner (admin) RM Fayzur Rahman and assistant police commissioner (admin) Md Ashiq Rahman were also present during the visit, the release said.

During the visit, the special team talked to the patients and enquired about their treatment.

Affected police personnel of different police units and their family members are taking treatment at the Central Police Hospital in city’s Razarbagh area.

The move came so that infected police personnel and those in isolation and quarantine do not feel demoralised, the release said.
