The Independence Cup football tournament was inaugurated in London with the age of 50
The Independence Cup football tournament was held for the first time with 50 expatriate Bangladeshis living in the UK. The football tournament was jointly inaugurated by Fifty Active Club and Inner London Football League to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence. Six teams from different cities in the UK took part in it. The tournament was inaugurated by Tower Hamlets Council Speaker Councilor Ahbab Hossain. Director of NTV Europe Sarwar Hossain Babu, community leaders Sufi Mia, Shaheen Kibria and Belal Ahmed were present on the occasion. More than 300 football fans were present at the game. The semi-finals and finals of the tournament will be held at the same ground next Wednesday. The organizers said they have plans to hold the tournament on a larger scale in the future.
