The Kashmir Files: Box-office collections so far, controversies, and more

Bollywood movie The Kashmir Files made it to the headlines even before the film hit the theatres on March 11, 2022. From huge box-office collections to several controversies, the movie has been grabbing the limelight for a long time now. Written and directed by The Tashkent Files helmer Vivek Agnihotri, this movie explores a very serious and sensitive issue of the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits back in 1990. The movie has touched the hearts of millions from all around the globe. Even without a big star in the film, The Kashmir Files shattered several box-office records.

The Kashmir Files collected Rs 3.55 crore on its first day and witnessed a solid growth as it raked in Rs 8.50 crore on its second day. The box-office collections jumped Rs 15.10 crore on its third day and since then, the numbers just kept on increasing. The movie even affected the box-office collection of Akshay Kumar’s Bachchhan Pandey, which released in theatres on March 18, 2022. On Day 10 (March 20, 2022), The Kashmir Files witnessed the highest collection in a day, which was Rs 26.20 crore.

After the release of S.S. Rajamouli’s much-awaited movie RRR, the box-office collection of The Kashmir Files saw a dip. However, the movie is still unstoppable as on the 17th day (March 27, 2022), Anupam Kher’s movie collected Rs 8.75 crore. Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files has done a business of Rs 228.28 crore at the box office till now, and is expected to cross Rs 250 crore mark soon.
