US gives 100 ventilators to Bangladesh to combat COVID-19

“These brand-new, quality machines will save countless lives as we all work together to overcome the pandemic,” said the US Embassy in Dhaka in a press release sent to the Daily Observer on Friday.
Deputy Chief of Mission of US Embassy JoAnne Wagner and USID Acting Mission Director received the ventilators at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday.
In a tweet, US Ambassador Earl R Miller thanked the Bangladesh government and the airport authorities for fascinating delivery and placement of the life-saving equipment
During his recent visit, US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen E Biegun announced the delivery of 100 American-made manufactured ventilators highlighting Bangladesh-US cooperation in public health and combating Covid-19.
The US government was one of the first donors to mobilize funds to support Bangladesh’s COVID-19 readiness and response efforts, contributing over $56.5 million from all agencies so far, including nearly $38 million from USAID alone for development and humanitarian assistance.
