US National Security Council delegation visits Rohingya camps

A 10-member delegation of the US National Security Council has visited the Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.

Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Shamsuddouza Nayan told our Cox’s Bazar staff correspondent that a 10-member delegation visited various Rohingya camps located in Ukhiya upazila.

Members of the delegation visited various projects of the Bangladesh government and international organisations at the camps, as well as interacted with the Rohingya men and women.

Later in the afternoon, they reached Cox’s Bazar and held a view-exchange meeting with Commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman at the Office of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC).

After the discussion, the members of the delegation left Cox’s Bazar for Dhaka.

The delegation included Eileen Laubacher, senior director of South Asia of the US National Security Council, Helen LaFave, deputy chief of mission of the US Embassy in Bangladesh, Brian Luty, director of South Asia of the US National Security Council, Scott Urbom, State Department foreign service officer for Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Mackenzie Rowe, regional refugee coordinator, Kenneth Hason, deputy director of USAID BHA Bangladesh, Assistant Regional Security Officer Nathalie Hahn, Refugee Assistant Ishtiaq Ahmed, Foreign Service National Investigator Sheikh Shibli, and Audio Video Technician public affairs Robert Rebelo.
