US to give BD over 10 lakh doses AstraZeneca vaccine

The United States will provide over 10 lakh jabs of AstraZeneca vaccine to Bangladesh under the global programme, COVAX.
“The 10,00,800 Astrazeneca vaccine doses from the USA will arrive soon under Covax programme,” said Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Friday.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the US conveyed the development to the Foreign Minister.
Bangladesh has sought 16 lakh doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the USA for administering second shots.
On June 3, the US administration announced its plan for global vaccine sharing through COVAX, keeping Bangladesh and India on the list.
Under the programme, approximately 7 million doses will be shared in Asia.
