Victory Day celebration limited amid coronavirus

The government has imposed a ban on every kind of outdoor celebration during the upcoming Victory Day of the country to check the spread of coronavirus.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal made the announcement through a video conference at an inter-ministerial meeting arranged by Liberation War Affairs Ministry on Tuesday. The ministry arranged the meeting to discuss preparations taken to celebrate the Victory Day.
“Outdoor activities will not be allowed this year due to coronavirus pandemic. But indoor programmmes will be allowed upon informing the law enforcers agencies about the names of guests who will join in the programme,” said Kamal.
Taking permission from the local authorities concerned and maintain health guidelines are must conditions for conducting indoor programmes on the Victory Day, said the Home Minister.
Detectives will remain vigilant about indoor activities so that incident like sabotage cannot occur, he said.
“Health guidelines will be enforced during the visits to the National Mausoleum at Savar and placing floral wreaths there. Besides, security measures in the area will be strengthened.”
