War on drug: 12 more killed in 9 districts

Eleven more alleged drug peddlers were killed in separate incidents of “gunfight” with law enforcers in nine districts on Tuesday as the anti-drug crackdown continues across the country.

As of Tuesday, at least 115 suspected drug peddlers were killed since the anti-narcotics drive started on May 12.

Cumilla: Two alleged drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with police in Gunjar area around 12:30 am on Tuesday.

They are—-Liton, 43, son of Abdus Samad, of Poiyapathor area, and Baten, 34, son of Sahid Miah, of Bakhornagar village uder Muradnagar upazila.

Muradnagar Police Station OC AKM Manjur Alam said a pipe gun and 400 bottles of Phensidyl have been recovered from the spot.

Kushtia: Two suspected drug peddlers were killed in a reported gunfight with police in Shehala field area under Daulatpur upazila around 3:30 am.
The deceased are—-Mukaddes Ali, 42,  and Fazlur Rahman, 48.

Daulatpur police station OC Azgar Ali said Fazlur Rahman was wanted in eight cases.

Police recovered a pistol, five round bullets, a magazine and 250 bottles of Phensidyl from the spot, he added.

Jashore: Two suspected drug peddlers were killed in a “gunfight” between two groups of drug traders in Chanchra Raipara area around 3 am.

Kotwali Police Station SI Md Manjurul confirmed the news.

Mymensingh: A suspected drug trader was killed in a reported gunfight with police around 2:10 am.

Mizan, 45, of Dakhshin Kachina village in Bhaluka upazila was wanted in nine cases, said Ashiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of the district police.

Satkhira: Suspected drug trader Anisur Rahman, 40,  was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Pilapul field under Deyara union around 2 am.

Biplab Kumar Nath, officer-in-charge of Koloroa Police Station, said Anisur was accused in 10 cases and a listed yaba trader.

Police recovered a one shooter gun, two round bullets and 70 Yaba tablets from the spot.

Thakurgaon: A suspected drug trader, Harun, was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Shitolpur area under Haripur upazila.

Ruhul Kuddus, officer-in-charge of Haripur Police Station, said Harun was accused in several cases filed with the police station.

Besides, three more suspected drug traders were killed in Dhaka, Brahmanbaria and Narayanganj districts last night.
