Wife remanded for severing husband’s body into six pieces

A woman, who severed her husband’s body into six pieces after killing him, was placed on a five-day remand for questioning by a court in Dhaka.
The court placed Fatema Khatun on the remand after she was produced before Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury by police.

Bringing her at the court, investigation officer (IO) of the murder case Kazi Shariful Islam pleaded to place her on a 10-day remand. After the hearing was over, the magistrate placed her on a five-day remand.

Earlier, Fatema Khatun was arrested for killing and severing the dead body of her husband into six pieces at Mohakhali in Dhaka allegedly for marrying second time.

Husband Moyna Mia’s severed head was recovered on Monday afternoon from Mohakhali area, hours after recovering two legs and two hands from a sack in front of ENA Bus counter at Mohakhali Bus Terminal.

Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested the victim’s first wife Fatema Khatun during a raid at an office in Banani.

Md Harun-ar-Rashid, joint commissioner of DB police’s Uttara (North) Division Cyber Crime Unit, stated it at a press conference at DMP Media Centre on Tuesday.

The DB learnt about Moyna Mia’s missing after contacting with his second wife.

Fatema Khatun allegedly killed her husband over family disputes, giving family expenses, and second marriage.

She allegedly hacked her husband making him unconscious by offering him  sleeping pills laced drinks and then severed him into six pieces.

Two legs and two hands of the victim were found in a sack in front of ENA Bus counter at Mohakhali Bus Terminal at early hours of Monday while the body was recovered from inside a drum at Amtali area in Mohakhali under Tejgaon Police Station on Sunday night.
